Contract Employment-Based Immigration Attorney (Full-Time)

Becker & Lee LLP, a full-service immigration law firm based in Oakland, California, seeks to hire a Temporary Contract Employment-Based Immigration Attorney. The position start date will be as soon as January 7, 2019 through April 1, 2019. A possibility for full-time employment will be considered after April 1, 2019 depending on performance.

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about practicing all areas of immigration law. The candidate should be interested in employment-based immigration law. The attorney will file non-immigrant employment-based visa petitions and application to secure H-1B, J, TN, E-3, L, E-2 and O visa status. The attorney will also prepare EB-1 Extraordinary Ability and EB-2 National Interest Waiver petitions. In addition, the attorney will prepare and file affirmative filings with USCIS, including family-based and employment-based Adjustment of Status applications, as well as naturalization and waiver applications.

Duties include maintaining frequent communication with clients, supervising paralegals, and helping implement office-wide quality control procedures. The applicant must efficiently and accurately manage a large caseload under the supervision of a senior attorney. Strong time management and organizational skills are essential to effectively handle the high-volume of cases that will be assigned. Availability to work extra hours may be required, especially for newer attorneys.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have excellent oral and written English language skills.
  • At least 1 year of experience in immigration law (time as a law student or paralegal will be counted towards the 1-year requirement).

Experience:

  • Newly licensed attorneys will be considered.

Minimum Education Level:

  • J.D. degree and license to practice law in any state.

Dates:

  • January 2019 through April 1, 2019, with the possibility to extend and/or become a full-time employee.
