Contract Employment-Based Immigration Attorney (Full-Time)

Becker & Lee LLP, a full-service immigration law firm based in Oakland, California, seeks to hire a Temporary Contract Employment-Based Immigration Attorney.

Employment-Based Immigration Attorney

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about practicing all areas of immigration law. The candidate should also be interested and experienced in employment-based immigration law. The attorney will work principally on H-1B, J, TN, E-3, L, E-2 and O visa petitions. The attorney will also prepare EB-1 and EB-2 National Interest Waiver cases and will also work on some PERM labor certification cases. The attorney will also be assigned some naturalization and family-based immigration cases.

Duties include maintaining frequent communication with clients, supervising paralegals, and helping implement office-wide quality control procedures. The applicant must efficiently and accurately manage a large caseload under the supervision of a senior attorney.  Strong time management and organizational skills are essential to effectively handle the high-volume of cases that will be assigned. Availability to work extra hours may be required, especially for newer attorneys.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have excellent oral and written English language skills.

Experience:

  •  1-5 years of experience working with H-1B, O, TN and other NIV petitions required.
  •  Experience with PERM labor certification preferred.
  •  Fluency in Spanish preferred

Minimum Education Level:

  • J.D. degree and license to practice law in any state.

Dates:

  • August or September 2018 through April 1, 2019, with the possibility to extend.

Spanish-Speaking Contract Immigration Attorney (Full-Time)

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about practicing all areas of immigration law.  In addition to representing clients in removal proceedings, the candidates will prepare and file affirmative filings with USCIS and will work on immigration cases for clients with criminal records. The attorney will prepare and file U visa petitions, I-601A and other waiver applications, and naturalization and Adjustment of Status applications. Duties include maintaining frequent communication with clients, supervising paralegals, and helping implement office-wide quality control procedures.  The applicant is required to efficiently and accurately complete a high volume of cases under the supervision of more senior attorneys. Strong time management and organizational skills are essential to effectively handle the high-volume of cases that will be assigned. Availability to work extra time on nights and weekends may be required, especially for newer attorneys.
